BIOGRAPHY:
Dr. Ofstad is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Sciences at the California Northstate College of Pharmacy (CNCP). He attended both Whitman College and Caltech as part of his undergraduate training, earning bachelor degrees in chemistry and chemical engineering, with emphases in mathematics and physics. Dr. Ofstad was involved in the field of information technology and encryption prior to transitioning to UCSF and Pharm.D. in 2004.
Whether in the classroom, at the bedside or in the clinic, Dr. Ofstad has been involved in teaching, tutoring, and precepting throughout his career. His passion for teaching and education has been formally recognized by his students and peers with numerous honors and awards. A motivating factor in his decision to join CNCP was Dean Hawkins’ decision to adapt the highly effective teaching strategy, team based learning (TBL), to the Pharm.D. curriculum.
Outside of the classroom and clinic, his current research interests involve the primary care topics of hyperlipemia, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. Recent CE presentations by Dr. Ofstad include “Emerging Antiplatelets and Updates in Acute Coronary Syndrome Therapy” and “Evaluation of Type II Diabetic Dyslipidemia and Hyperglycemia Following Pioglitazone Versus NPH Insulin.”
