Dr. Lackey is the Director of Residency and Fellowship Training Programs and an Associate Professor of Clinical and Administrative Sciences at California Northstate University College of Pharmacy. He also serves as a Toxicology Management Specialist at the University of California, San Francisco, (UCSF) California Poison Control Center (CPCS), UCSF Assistant Clinical Professor of Pharmacy and University of California Davis (UCD), School of Medicine, Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine for CPCS based at the UCD Medical Center in Sacramento, California. Currently he holds a certification in Poison Information and is a fellow in the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists. He serves as the Chair of the CNU Continuing Education Committee and is the Administrator for CNU, California Accreditation for Pharmacy Education (CAPE).
Dr. Lackey has completed retrospective research on many toxic exposures to drugs, published many articles in the field of clinical toxicology, lectured on toxicology related issues, as well as authored several chapters in the textbook in “Poisoning and Drug Overdoseâ€Â. His primary research interests include the safe, effective, and appropriate use of antidotes in the medical treatment of overdoses with a particular interest in psychiatric medications.
Over the years Dr. Lackey’s pharmacy practice has allowed him to be active as a Community Pharmacist, General Manager, Director of Pharmacy Services, and as a Consultant Pharmacist in the Long Term Care and Home Infusion pharmacy arenas. He has been a principal partner, operating a community pharmacy, clinical consulting company, a home infusion company, and multiple psychiatric hospital pharmacies. In theses settings, he has developed a wealth of knowledge in professional education, community and health-systems pharmacy, as well as clinical and administrative pharmacy practice.
Wanting to give back to the profession, Dr. Lackey serves as an officer and committee member for many state and local professional pharmacy organizations. Currently, he is a member and Fellow of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists, a board member for the Sacramento Valley Pharmacists Association (SVPhA), and served as a member of the House of Delegates for the California Pharmacists Association (CPhA). He is the President for the California Society of Health System Pharmacists - Sacramento Valley Chapter (CSHP-SVC) and is a member of the CSHP Public Relations Committee and is a CSHP Faculty Student Liaison Committee member, as well as a member of the CSHP House of Delegates.
